Risk and liability

Entering Oceania Orienteering Championships 2025 is at your own risk.

By entering, you accept that there is a degree of risk involved in participating in this event, and that you will not hold the event organisers or any other persons involved with this event liable for any loss or injury to person or equipment incurred during the event.

This includes, but is not limited to, the employees, committees, members and volunteers of Orienteering NZ; all independent contracted suppliers to the event and their employees; territorial authorities, landowners, sponsors and their respective officers, directors, employees, independent contractors, representatives, agents and volunteers.

Fire risk and other forces majeures

Under the terms of the access agreement with Ernslaw One Limited—the forestry managers—they retain the right to close the forest if in their opinion there is an unacceptable risk posed by Oceania 2025. This is a very unlikely scenario. 

The organiser shall not be held liable for any failure to deliver the event if the forest is closed by Ernslaw One Limited, or if any other force majeure or other issue outside the control of the organiser results in the cancellation of the event. The organiser will not be held responsible for any direct or indirect losses, damages, costs or expenses incurred by the participant. 

In the event of cancellation, the organiser will attempt to run events at another venue or will refund the participants minus any reasonable costs already incurred.

Insurance

Your entry fee does not include any form of insurance, in particular it does not include any medical or travel insurance.

Terms and conditions

Changes

If you need to make changes to your entry, please contact us as soon as possible. As a last resort, SI card numbers can be changed at the event in person at the registration desk (bring your new SI card to the desk) at least an hour before first starts for that day.

Refunds

If you need to cancel your entry for any reason, partial refunds are available until close of entries, as follows:

Refunds are towards the cost of entry only – merchandise orders can’t be refunded once we’ve sent them to the manufacturer.

Refunds will be processed after the event. Please contact us if you need to discuss refunds.

Late entries

Requests for new entries after the closing date of Friday January 3rd 2025 will only be accepted at the discretion of the organiser, and if accepted will attract a late fee of an additional 25% of the relevant entry rate. So give yourself plenty of time to enter and avoid the hassle.
