We’ve got some new information (and gorgeous photos!) for the Oceania 2025 warm-up events courtesy of Anna at Orienteering Taranaki:
“The warm-ups are being hosted by Orienteering Taranaki on the 18th and 19th January 2025. Both events are located just outside of the city of New Plymouth. For locals and those who were at the Oceania Sprints in January 2024, these maps are very different. Your bush navigation will need to be on point and your legs are going to get tired!
The middle distance warm-up will be at TOPEC. With negative terrain, regenerating native bush and complex erosion gullies, you’ll need to make heavy use of your compass.
The long warm-up is at Ratapihipihi—a challenging map with a great mix of farmland and native bush, steep country and gully spur systems. On a fine day you can see the coast below and the mighty Mt Taranaki above you.”
