Extra training: Hydrabad

A couple of months ago we changed our training map from Hydrabad, south of Waitārere Beach, to Scott’s Ferry South in Santoft Forest. This was to give you a more consistent training experience—all the forest events are in Santoft, and all the Santoft maps have a 2.5m contour interval.

Since Scott’s Ferry South is a relatively small area, we’ve managed to negotiate access to the much larger Hydrabad as well. That should provide as much dune forest training as you could possibly want, even for the long-legged elites among you. The contour interval at Hydrabad is 5m, and some of the dunes are pretty tall!

The training maps will be open on the 21st and 22nd of January, and your training entry gets you access to both. They’re each under an hour from Palmerston North, and about an hour apart by car.

We’ll have more information on training map pickup in Bulletin 2.

In case you were wondering: Hydrabad is named after a ship which ran aground at Waitārere Beach in 1878. The map name is spelled like the ship name!
