We’re pleased to announce that Oceania 2025 will include an ANZ Challenge—a competition between Australian and New Zealand orienteers—with the Challenge Cup and Brown Memorial Trophy up for grabs.
This year’s challenge classes are:
- M/W-16A, M/W-20A, M/W21E, M/W35A, M/W40A, M/W45A, M/W50A, M/W55A, M/W60A, M/W65A and M/W70A.
Each nation selects a team of three for each of the classes. The team members compete in the individual races (lowest sum of the best two times wins) and together as a relay team (lowest team time wins). Overall victory in a challenge goes to the nation with the most class wins, so all the classes are equally important.
The Challenge Cup is competed for over the sprint, middle and long distance races, and the Brown Memorial Trophy over the relay. Currently both trophies are held by Australia, but there’s everything to play for! If you’re selected, the best of luck to you, and know that the rest of us will be cheering you on.
For more on scoring, selection and eligibility, see the ONZ rules under Australia/New Zealand challenges and the OA call for nominations.
